The East End of Long Island has a maritime climate that is more temperate than other coastal areas of the Northeastern United States. The range of temperatures can be seen in the graph below, with hot summers and cold winters, and dramatic seasonal changes that bring spectacular and varied scenery at all times of year. Sea breezes from the Atlantic Ocean temper summer heat and in winter, the North Fork and Hamptons are warmer than Manhattan and areas further inland, especially at night and in the early morning hours. |
